How To Eat Slowly
6 Powerful Reasons
Learning how to eat slowly is one of the most effective ways to achieve fat loss and be healthy. When we tell our clients, “The first step to weight loss is to eat slowly,” they usually look back at us in bewilderment.
If you’re anything like our clients, keep those eyes as wide as you like because I’m going to explain to you the benefits that you’re missing out on. This is one of the most successful tools we use to get our clients RESULTS.
Eating slowly allows the brain the time it needs to receive a satiety signal. It takes about 20 minutes for your hormones to tell your brain you are full and don’t need any more food.
If we eat too fast (most of us do) we overeat before our brain gets the signal to stop eating. This is when you go back for seconds or thirds.
Over the years, research has shown that those who eat slowly are better off than those who eat food like a vacuum. This study found that “Eating quickly had a significantly greater association with risk of metabolic syndrome, for both sexes, than eating slowly…”. Now let’s discuss the benefits of eating slowly and how you can make this a lifestyle change forever.
Eat Slowly For Life
- Eating slowly leads to less weight gain over a lifetime
- If you’re eating slowly it will increase how full you are sooner
- The more often you feel full, the less often you’ll snack
- Your portion size will probably drop over time due to eating slowly
- People that eat slowly tend to have fewer cravings
- If you’ve ever had problems with digestion, this will improve with eating more slowly.
Eat Slowly Is Our Cornerstone
Here in our corner of the world at Valparaiso’s Lift Lift Fitness, we consider eating slowly to be a cornerstone habit. If our clients don’t manage to make this a habit before other healthy habits, the chances of success are generally less.
Don’t skip ahead to the other habits. We want you to get the results you want sooner rather than later. Lock this habit down and then you can move on to our next fat burning habit, “Stop Eating at 80% Full.”
If you haven’t watched our video on creating habits, go do it now. Then you’ll be ready to seize the day and eat slowly.
Take Action Now: Eat Slowly
